Hunter Heart An Alpha Pack Novel JD Tyler Books
My rating is 3.5 rounded up to 4 on this oneRyon is the Pack member who can see the spirits of the dead and occasionally speak to them. He is also the one who is telepathic. Daria is a wolf researcher who is in the mountains outside the compound when she suffers an accident and is trapped. She has her own psy gifts and reaches out to Ryon, who comes to her rescue and finds she is his mate.
What I liked a lot about this book is they mate right away rather than going through the agonizing illness scenario of the first couple books. That got old, so this was refreshing, though not without it's own issues. They even got time to get to know each other and bond without fighting creatures too actively, a nice focus on their romance rather than all action and battles all the time.
That said, when we did get to the battle half of the book, I just couldn't buy it. Nick, the commander, sends off Ryon and his mate to a well-guarded compound, an army of guards, to get critical information. Just the two of them, and Ryon's gifts are more of the investigative type than battle. His mate has no battle experience at all, not even able to handle a gun. I just couldn't buy that. I get the reason for the literary setup there, but I couldn't see the rest of the team lounging back at the compound relaxed while those two fought the entire battle against dozens. On top of that, they were in the wilds around the compound for several days with the armed guards hunting for them and too time to pitch a tent, sleep at the same time (rather than one staying on guard at all times), take a leisurely swim and wash their clothing, etc. Huh? In the midst of an op with their lives on the line? No. Not believable at all and went on forever. Then neither Ryon nor Daria used their psy gifts in any way pretty must the rest of the book after meeting each other. Again, huh? That is the reason this book is 4 stars (3.5 really).
The wrap-up though was good, introducing some new elements, new conspiracies, and hinting at the next book with the white wolf. I'm glad to see more complexity and other groups/clans coming into this a bit, as well as understand more of the evil plot, so I'll continue the series, hoping for no more unbelievability that lasted half the book like this one.

Hunter Heart An Alpha Pack Novel JD Tyler Books Reviews
4.5 Stars
This has really been a fantastic series! I have devoured every bit of these characters and their stories and while this book isn't my favorite of the series (it's gonna be hard to top Kalen) it's still a great read!
Ryon has the ability to see spirits. After being badly injured during a mission he sees the spirit of a beautiful woman asking him for help. At first he thinks she is just another spirit asking for help he can't give but quickly realizes that is not the case, so he rushes, along with his pack to save her before it's too late.
Daria is a wildlife biologist traveling the Shoshone National Forest studying the natural wolves. While hiking she finds a very gruesome scene in the woods along with a beautiful white wolf. Attempting to escape the wolf she's somehow pushed into a deep ravine and has been left badly wounded. With no other way to save herself she uses her astral projection gift and appears to Ryon to ask for help.
This starts the story of Daria and Ryon. Together they must defeat the nasty beast leaving dead bodies and at the same time get to know each other because fate has pushed them together.
I absolutely adore Ryon! The guy is the sweetest ever and it was so easy to fall in love with him. Daria on the other hand, while I liked her as a character, it took me a while to like her for Ryon. She's very independent and it was difficult for her to accept being given no choice. I get that, but it just got annoying after a while. I'm just glad she redeemed herself (with me at least) and I was able to really enjoy the second half of the book.
This book brings more questions than answers for the pack and how they became what they are now and the plot takes a nice little twist that I'm really looking forward to learning more about in the next book. And I'm sure his book, if there ever will be one, is well in the future but I gotta say, I need for Blue to get his own book. He is by far my most favorite character and I didn't get near as much of him in this book as I would have liked.
If you haven't read any of this series yet, please go now and add them to your TBR list. These books are must reads and while they could probably be read out of order without much confusion, they are way better when read together in order. I can't wait for more of these incredibly sexy alpha males in the future and their crazy intense stories!
