While it’s a very good book for giving information on teen drug abuse, I can't say I love it because it was a bit of a boring read if you’re not completely interested on the ins and outs of this topic. Wendy gives great information about all the different ways drugs abuse occurs in high schools and why teens take these drugs, however she does not specifically talk about which drugs affect teens the most. I would have liked to learn more about gateway drugs and why teens expand on the drugs they take even if they know they are seriously harmful. All she provided was a quote from one girl stating how she tried other drugs as an experiment to see which drug was the coolest. However, what I do like about this book also is rather than only discussing how teens begin using drugs, she discusses ways in which it can be prevented. She helps the reader develop a "sixth sense" so they can recognize when a teen is abusing drugs and also how they can help that teen to overcome their addiction. Like I said, personally I wish it would have gone more in depth about gateway drugs, but it also lacks many experiments or surveys conducted on teen drug abuse to show statistical evidence. Overall it was an interesting and informative read, useful for anyone interested in learning about the world of teen drug abuse.
